Oasis Church Prayer Team Well, we are drawing closer to New Year’s Day, which will mark the beginning of the 21-Day Daniel Fast for many. Others will start their 21-Day Fast on Sunday, January 6th, which is the first Sunday of the year. Still others will commit to a shorter period of spiritual fasting, but still give a “first fruits offering” of themselves to the Lord by beginning the New Year with prayer and fasting. The 21-Day Fast is the most popular, primarily because that is the model set out by Daniel in Chapter 10:2, 3 – “In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.” I hope you will find all the information you need on this site to be successful on your fast. One thing I want to advise: be prepared! First, have the right kinds of foods in the house that you can eat for the Daniel Fast. Foods to include in your diet during the Daniel Fast All fruits. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. Fruits include but are not limited to apples, apricots, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, cantaloupe, cherries, cranberries, figs, grapefruit, grapes, guava, honeydew melon, kiwi, lemons, limes, mangoes, nectarines, oranges, papayas, peaches, pears, pineapples, plums, prunes, raisins, raspberries, strawberries, tangelos, tangerines, watermelon All vegetables. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. Vegetables include but are not limited to artichokes, asparagus, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chili peppers, collard greens, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, ginger root, kale, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, potatoes, radishes, rutabagas, scallions, spinach, sprouts, squashes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, yams, zucchini, veggie burgers are an option if you are not allergic to soy. All whole grains, including but not limited to whole wheat, brown rice, millet, quinoa, oats, barley, grits, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat tortillas, rice cakes and popcorn. All nuts and seeds, including but not limited to sunflower seeds, cashews, peanuts, sesame. Also nut butters including peanut butter. All legumes. These can be canned or dried. Legumes include but are not limited to dried beans, pinto beans, split peas, lentils, black eyed peas, kidney beans, black beans, cannellini beans, white beans. All quality oils including but not limited to olive, canola, grape seed, peanut, and sesame. Beverages: spring water, distilled water or other pure waters. Other: tofu, soy products, vinegar, seasonings, salt, herbs and spices. Foods to avoid on the Daniel Fast All meat and animal products including but not limited to beef, lamb, pork, poultry, and fish. All dairy products including but not limited to milk, cheese, cream, butter, and eggs. All sweeteners including but not limited to sugar, raw sugar, honey, syrups, molasses, and cane juice. All leavened bread including Ezekiel Bread (it contains yeast and honey) and baked goods. All refined and processed food products including but not limited to artificial flavorings, food additives, chemicals, white rice, white flour, and foods that contain artificial preservatives. All deep fried foods including but not limited to potato chips, French fries, corn chips. All solid fats including shortening, margarine, lard and foods high in fat. Beverages including but not limited to coffee, tea, herbal teas, carbonated beverages, energy drinks, and alcohol. Remember, READ THE LABELS! Second, you might want to get rid of or at least put away foods that are tempting. Kind of like the biblical accounts of Jewish women as they prepared for the Passover by cleaning their houses from top to bottom and removed all yeast from their homes. Many Jews engage in this same practice today when they prepare for the Passover. Third, plan time to prepare meals as they will likely take a little longer than when you are not fasting. Most of the mels you prepare will be from scratch since there are so few prepared products that don’t have chemicals in them. So you will want to set aside enough time to prepare your meals, not only for those you will have at home, but also those you will have at work or when you are traveling. Of course, you also want to prepare your heart for the 21-Day Fast. Seek the Lord’s guidance as you get ready to start the fast. Are there issues in your life that you need to address? Are their needs in your family or ministry that can use special attention? Are you seeking healing? Do you feel oppressed by financial bandages? These last few days of the year are an excellent time to search your heart, open yourself to the Lord, and allow Him to lead you into you personal 21-Day Fast. God bless you and I hope the very best for you as you set aside this time to give the first of yourself to Almighty God. Remember, He rewards those who diligently seek Him. So keep your mind on Christ and your focus on righteousness.

Also, plan your menus and prepare the foods so they are available to you.
Pastor Danny is seeking Oasis church members to join the prayer team.
Oasis Prayer Ministry Team Overview
The service goal of the Prayer Ministry Team is to partner with God to connect hurting people to the power of love, grace and forgiveness.
Oasis will has three prayer branches.
• Altar Prayer Team consisting of trained, mature believers who will be available during worship services to minister to those coming forward for salvation, healing, intercession or any other spiritual need. Altar Team members will act as the core Prayer Team Committee and meet monthly for a brief time to prayer needs, focus and management of the threefold Prayer Ministry Team.
• Intercessory Prayer Team consisting of anyone who will commit to a daily time of prayer for others. Their prayer time may be short or long and at any time of day. They will receive weekly prayer focus guides and are encouraged to pray also as the Spirit of God leads. Everyone willing to commit is invited to join.
•Pre-Service Prayer Team whose members will come together before worship services to pray over the facilities in a prayer walk and/or meet as a prayer group to pray over the ministry and all those who help Oasis operate. This team is also asked to be in daily private prayer for our church body, ministry and facilities. Everyone is invited to join.

Even the “strongest” believers face trials. Faith is no guarantee of a trouble-free life, but we will weather the storm in joy and peace through a faith made strong by a balanced “diet” of these four “Spiritual Food Groups”:
Scriptures on Prayer
"... pray without ceasing." I thes 5:17
No relationship can grow without communication, we need to make prayer a priority in every situation. We need to be in such close contact that in "telling Him all about it," our first response in all situations to praise, petition and pour out our hearts in prayer.
There is Great Power in Your Prayers!
“The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16
"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." Cor 10:4-5
"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." John 14:13-14 Note: “...in my name” implies in His will, for to be identified with His name is to be identified with Him, Jesus Himself and His complete will.
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him." 1 John 5:14-15
We know we have what we asked for when we pray in God’s will, (and we should always qualify our prayers by asking that HIS will supersede ours) and it matters not how pretty our words, nor whether we are in church or in the car, etc. There is no ritualistic requirement other than sincere faith, simple trust and a longing for HIS will to prevail.
Notice the last two quotes have the condition of praying in the Lord’s will. We must use caution when citing any Bible reference because for the meaning to be valid, it must be considered with and tempered by what the whole Word says about the subject within the confines of the Old or New Testament, ie: Under Law or under Grace.
Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Peace is promised if we stop worrying and trust God with the outcome. Hard to do! BUT we can ask (pray) that the Lord Himself - the author and finisher of our faith - will enable us in this.
